Medicare & Vision Insurance

Unfortunately, Original Medicare routine vision care and usually does not cover materials such as glasses or contacts.  One exception to this is if you have cataract surgery, then Medicare will cover a pair of glasses.

You have a few options to get vision coverage:

• You can get a Medicare Advantage that includes vision coverage or offers it as a rider.
• You can purchase a stand alone vision insurance.  This would have a monthly premium and offer coverage for materials as well a routine eye visits.
